FAQs

General

  • The cost of a tattoo varies depending on size and content. I like to be as clear as possible with my pricing structure so that you can make an informed decision. I have 4 base session options which can be found on the Pricing page to give a general idea of my rates. I’m here for the love of the craft and not just the money so if you don’t see a session that suits you on my website, get in touch and we can work something out to fit your schedule and your budget :)

  • Yes. A non-refundable booking fee is required to guarantee your appointment. This is not an additional fee on top of your session price, it will be deducted from the total amount. For example, if you have booked a 2 Hour session at £120 and paid your booking fee, your total to pay at the end of your appointment will be £80.

  • Cash is preferred but I also accept bank transfers.

  • Absolutely! Everything I do is for the girls, gays and theys. Please feel free to be yourself, wear what makes your heart happy and know that you’re safe in my studio.

  • I offer traditional machine tattooing and high quality handpoke tattooing. I do not provide any piercing or permanent makeup services.

  • You have to be aged 18 or older to get a tattoo.

  • No, you must be over 18 to be tattooed. All clients must provide valid photo ID at the start of their appointment.

  • Everyone is unique and so is their pain threshold, it also depends on the placement of the tattoo as some areas of your body are more sensitive than others. Tattoos are often likened to the sensation of being pinched and majority of my clients have been surprised that it hurts less than they imagined. While there is no definitive answer to this, just know that larger tattoos with solid colour or blackwork will generally be more painful than small linework tattoos with no shading. Anyone who cries will be banished to the shadow realm immediately.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, don’t worry! Life happens and I totally understand. As a courtesy, all I ask is that you contact me as soon as possible but preferably 8 hours before your appointment time. Please do this by filling out the short form on the “Contact” page of my website and specify if you would like to cancel or reschedule. Cancellation will result in the loss of your £40 booking fee. If rescheduling, your £40 booking fee will be transferred to your new appointment.

  • Yes! I offer a free retouch service to all of my clients up to 2 months after an appointment. Should you find that some of the ink in your tattoo faded during the healing process, please head to the “Contact” page and request a retouch session.

  • Yes! I’m a fully licensed and insured tattoo artist.

Tattoo
Process

  • Yes, I always offer my clients to view their design in person before their appointment. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide finished designs by sending them online. If you’re unable to come in and view your design, we can do this on the day of your appointment before your session starts.

  • Yes! All of the inks I use are Vegan friendly.

  • If you would like to use a numbing treatment during your appointment, please let me know in advance. I’m happy to walk you through the options and provide the numbing product free of charge. Please do not purchase and apply any numbing products before your appointment as this can seriously affect the application and healing of your tattoo. I cannot guarantee the quality of work or healing if a numbing product has been without my knowledge or supervision.

  • Refrain from drinking alcohol in the 24 hours before your appointment and please EAT! Anyone found guilty of not eating before their session will be sentenced to consume a delicious Greggs pastry in front of me like some sort of court jester.

  • That’s completely up to you! I don’t require my clients to shave the tattoo area before their appointment, I do this before applying the stencil. If it’s an area that you regularly shave and would like to do so, please feel free to.

  • Wearing loose fitting clothing that allows access to the area being tattooed is recommended. Tight clothing such as jeans, leggings and long sleeve shirts would need to be removed if the tattoo area is covered by them.

  • Of course! My treatment area is small so I can only accommodate 1 extra person but you are more than welcome to bring a buddy. Yappers and doom scrollers are welcome. Silent friends who stare at me the entire time are also welcome but historically are known to make me violently uncomfortable and must sit facing the corner. I have taped a Farmfoods leaflet to the wall for their entertainment.

Tattoo
Healing

  • I provide a detailed aftercare regimen to all clients at the end of their appointment but the key things to note are:

    • Wash with tepid water twice a day. Try not to use any soap but if you must use it, choose unscented bar soap. Avoid gels and foams. Do not submerge your tattoo in water for extended periods of time.

    • Allow to air dry or pat gently with a paper towel and keep uncovered for as long as possible. Avoid coming into contact with contaminants like chemicals, dirt or pet hair.

    • Apply the recommended aftercare ointment sparingly and no more than twice per day until scabs form.

    • When scabs form, protect your tattoo from rubbing against clothing to ensure the scabs don’t rip off too soon.

    • Apply unscented moisturiser sparingly and as often as needed to ease itching or discomfort during the scabbing stage.

I personally don’t use or recommend second skin or wet healing methods. In my experience, dry healing is the easiest method for most of my clients to follow, has the best results and is least likely to result in infection/allergic reactions.

  • Don’t worry, you’re not turning into a squid. This is completely normal even though it looks scary! Your body is trying to heal the area which causes an influx of plasma and white blood cells to rush to the tattoo site. Ink particles become encased in the plasma which makes it look like your tattoo is leaking. This should only last for a short time until scabs begin to form.

  • Tattoos generally take between 7-14 days to heal completely. However, this varies from person to person and can sometimes take more or less time. If you are immunocompromised, you may find that your tattoo heals a little slower but that’s completely normal.

  • Infections from a tattoo carried out by a licensed artist in a studio that practices proper disinfection and blood borne disease control are very unlikely but can occur during the healing process. Signs to look out for are:

    • Worsening pain

    • Redness and/or discolouration

    • Swelling

    • Pus and/or discharge

    • Fever symptoms and shakes.

If you have any concerns with your tattoo, please contact me directly as soon as possible. Some of the above symptoms can also be attributed to not following the aftercare instructions properly and doesn’t necessarily mean the tattoo is infected.

  • It’s not recommended to exercise heavily in the 7-14 days after a new tattoo. Excessive sweating can cause bacteria to build up and lead to infection. Additionally, salt from sweat is known to cause ink fading during the healing process. Light exercise is generally fine and shouldn’t affect your tattoo.

  • Absolutely not. Your tattoo is an open wound! Please wait until the scabs have fallen off of your new tattoo before you go swimming. Pools and open bodies of water are full of chemicals, parasites and bacteria which can all make their way into your body through your tattoo. Do you want parasites? ‘Cause this is how you get parasites.

  • It’s not recommended to use a tanning bed if you have tattoos at all but especially not in the 7-14 days after a new tattoo. Just like with using the gym, excessive sweating can lead to poor healing and infection. Intense UV exposure to damaged skin can lead to serious medical conditions, scarring and severe burns.
